通过切除大鼠双侧卵巢造成实验性骨质疏松症动物模型，以假手术组和西药（肌注雌激素）组作为对照，观察针刺和艾灸对骨质疏松大鼠骨代谢的影响。结果显示，针刺和艾灸能提高雌激素水平，抑制骨吸收，促进骨形成，从而改善骨代谢负平衡状态，对雌激素缺乏引起的骨质疏松症有一定的治疗作用。
