五腧穴是针灸治疗常用的有效穴。在《灵枢·九针十二原·本输·根结·卫气》等篇中系统地说明了五腧穴的具体内容。《难经·62～79难》又进一步解释了使用方法。历代针灸家运用五腧穴的理论

总结和创立了许多疗效很高的针灸配方

为我们留下了宝贵的临床经验;提供了研究经络学说的主要资料。
