The "preponderant diseases" embody the core competitiveness of acupuncture and moxibustion. At present

the researches on it can be divided into two categories from the aspects of methodology and influence. That is

the researches on efficacy graded-disease-spectrum of acupuncture and moxibustion based on effective diseases

and the researches on clinical evidence map of acupuncture and moxibustion in evidence-based medicine. However

these researches all focus on the effectiveness of acupuncture-moxibustion treatment

the "advantages/superiority" in its treatment has not be explored comprehensively. There are two major challenges in defining "preponderant diseases" of acupuncture and moxibustion

i.e. the ambiguous connotation of "advantages/superiority"

and imperfect system of methodology study. It is suggested to reconstruct the two-dimensional connotation framework of "preponderant diseases" of acupuncture and moxibustion

establish an evaluation system centered on patient experience

and build an evaluation system framework that integrates multivariate data and consensus

in order to promote the substantial leap from empirical inheritance to evidence-based decision-making in acupuncture and moxibustion.
